About the Memory Network

The Memory Network brings together researchers, authors and artists, and organisations to provoke and fuel original ways of thinking about memory. Writers and critics working in the arts and humanities are now turning to new ways of thinking within biosciences, psychology, and computer science to explore individual and collective memory in literary narratives, while scientists acknowledge the benefits of engaging with creative ideas and the ethical and hermeneutic perspectives offered through fictional explorations and humanities disciplines. The Memory Network aims to foster a serious engagement with these emerging models of memory and the ways in which they might generate or illuminate literary production.

The Memory Network is a collaborative venture led by the University of Roehampton and Durham University. It provides space and stimulus for dialogue between individuals and groups working across the UK, US and Europe, and encourages membership from researchers working in memory studies across different disciplines and from multiple perspectives.

Members of the Memory Network will interact with each other and a wider public audience through events, online forums, and collaborative publication. Currently, core members are working in the fields of English Literature, Philosophy of Science, Computer Science, Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Film Studies, Anthropology, and History. Researchers interested in joining the Network’s intellectual activity are welcome to contact us or send an enquiry.
